How to connect to OSU_Secure

» Windows XP » Windows Vista » Mac OS X (10.3 and higher)

             

Windows XP

First right click on the My Network Places icon and choose Properties.




In the Network Connections window, find your Wireless Adapter and right click it. Then, select Properties from the context menu.



The Wireless Network Connection Properties window will appear, open the Wireless Networks tab. The OSU_Secure network should be listed under Preferred Networks. Highlight this network and click Properties.


*Note: If OSU_Secure does not appear in the list of Preferred Networks, click the Add button and type:
OSU_Secure
for the SSID.

For the Association tab, fill in the settings to match the screenshot below:


Flip to the Authentication tab and choose Protected EAP (PEAP) for EAP type and then click the Properties button.


In the Protected EAP Properties window, fill out the settings to match the screenshot below and then click the Configure button.


UNcheck the checkbox in this pop-up window and click OK.



Click OK until you are back at the Wireless Network Connection Properties window. Then, click on the View Wireless Networks button. Next, double click OSU_Secure to begin connecting.

During the connection process, you will get a notification in the bottom right down by the clock asking you to select a certificate, click once on this message to log in.



A log on window will appear asking for a User name, Password and Logon domain. Enter your ONID user name and password and type ONID for the Logon Domain.



Shortly after, you'll be connected to the OSU_Secure network and you can begin using the network/internet.

 

 

Windows Vista

Left click the network icon in the task bar

Click Network and Sharing Center

From the left side menu click Manage Wireless Networks

Click the Add button

Click Manually create a network profile

Set the following options:

Network Name: OSU_Secure

Security Type: WPA-Enterprise

Encryption Type: TKIP

Click Next

Click Change connection settings

Click on the Security tab

Click the Settings button

Uncheck the box next to Validate server certificate

Click the Configure button

Uncheck the box next to Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any).

Click OK 3 times

Click Connect to…

Highlight OSU_Secure from the list of available networks and click the Connect button at the bottom of the window. If you do not see the OSU_Secure network listed, click the refresh button in the upper right corner of the screen.


Under Additional log on information is required to connect to this network

Click Enter/select additional log on information

Enter your ONID username, password, and Domain

Click OK

Click Close


 

Mac OS X (10.3 and higher)

Open system preferences.

 

or

Click on Network

Click on airport, then click configure

Click the + symbol to add OSU_Secure to the available networks

Enter OSU_Secure and select WPA Enterprise

Enter your credentials, ensure it says onid\YourOnidUserName

Click and drag the OSU_Secure listing to the top

Back at the desktop/finder, locate and click on the wireless symbol in the upper right hand corner

Click "Turn Airport on"


Click Continue and verify the certificate

Click on the wireless symbol again and check to ensure you are connected to the OSU_Secure network
