Correcting Outlook 2003 Error
Upon opening Microsoft Outlook 2003 you may receive the following error:
This is due to an error in the configuration file embedded into Office. To fix this and setup outlook, please start by clicking on the START menu and then clicking on CONTROL PANEL.
When the CONTROL PANEL opens, double click on the MAIL icon.
Then, click on the SHOW PROFILES button.
Click the DEFAULT OUTLOOK PROFILE, and then the REMOVE button. Click APPLY, then OK.
Now, find the Outlook icon in the START MENU and open it. You will get an Outlook 2003 Startup screen, click NEXT.
On the next screen, make sure YES is selected and click NEXT.
On the next screen, make sure MICROSOFT EXCHANGE SERVER is selected, then click NEXT.
On the Exchange Server Settings Screen, type in nash-exchange.fwl.oregonstate.edu as the "Microsoft Exchange Server", make sure the "Use Cached Exchange Mode" is NOT checked, and in the "User Name" field, type either your username or email address. Then click the CHECK NAME button.
A screen may pop up prompting you to select the appropriate username from a list. In the example below, I would choose the top name that is selected and then click the OK button.
After clicking okay, a finished screen should appear. Click the FINISH button. Outlook should now be setup.
